“Birthday Party on the Lawn” for New Godeke Branch Library Sunday

LUBBOCK, TX (PRESS RELEASE) -- A “Birthday Party on the Lawn” is planned to kick-off awareness to create and support a cozy cuddle corner in the new Godeke Branch Library, scheduled to open later this year.  It will be held on Sunday, July 13 from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. on the lawn at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 33rd and Hartford, and will offer games, treats, fun and friends.  It is sponsored by the group, Cuddle Up and Read Lubbock (CURL), which has been formed to honor the memory of little Jacqueline Anderson.

The vision of the group is to encourage people to interact with children in the context of books, as well as to inspire a love and appreciation for reading.  The inspiration for this idea is Jacqueline Anderson, who in only twenty-two months taught precious lessons about love and joy.  Her family continues to share her spirit, reminding everyone to be present for our children, cuddle our little ones, and appreciate special moments with the people we cherish.

Children’s board books will be accepted at this event to place in the special cuddle corner collection at the new library location.  CURL is also working with the Friends of the Library in their effort to raise funds to purchase furniture, shelving, and books for Godeke’s children’s area.

For more information please call 775-2824.
