For the 2nd time in three weeks we had some Monday Night Football involving our area High School Teams in the State Playoffs. This time its for the Regional Championship, and for the Cooper Pirates they would have to get through the juggernaut known as the Stephenville Yellow Jackets.
The Red Raiders will get back to practice on Wednesday and have 18 days until they suit it up against the Sun Devils. By that time we will have new State Champions at all levels of the high school ranks, weather permitting of course.
Friday night was set to be a big night for several of our area teams looking to advance in the state high school football playoffs, but for the 2nd time in 3 weeks weather played a major factor in changing up schedules.
The Cooper Baseball team had quite a year last year advancing to the State Semi-Finals and beating the Stephenville Yellow Jackets to do so, well here we are, seven months later but this time it’s with that brown ball that bounces funny.
The area round of the playoffs will finally come to a conclusion tonight when Bangs and Denver City clash down in San Angelo, and although that is the longest that any games got delayed, it was certainly not the only one.
This cold blast has taken its toll on the high school football playoffs, with postponements taking place all over the South Plains, but some teams were able to play on Friday night, like Wall and Idalou playing in Midland.
