Its that time of year when many cotton producers begin their ginning process.
Lubbock Cotton Growers is just one of many in the Lubbock area that that gin the cotton that local growers bring in.
But even with some of the extra rain we got this year... Jerry Butman, with Lubbock Cotton Growers, says he wishes he could see more growers come in.
Nevertheless, Lubbock Cotton Growers expects to produce over 40 thousand bails of cotton this year.
A number compared to three years ago, Butman says they are fortunate for.
While they admit they must stay competitive, they believe that many gins across the South Plains are doing what they can to get the best cotton out.
For the next two months at least, Lubbock Cotton Growers will work hard to sort through, clean and pack the cotton that comes in.
And get ready to do it all again next year.
