SHALLOWATER, TX -- Last week the Monsanto Fund announced a $2,500 donation to the Shallowater Future Farmers of America. Local farmer Kirby Lewis participated in the nominating process for more than $3.2 million in grants from the Monsanto Fund – more specifically a program called “America’s Farmers Grow Communities.” Lewis was chosen by the program which allowed him to direct the donation to his local FFA.

“Farming is a great way of life,” said Lewis. “We appreciate the Shallowater FFA for teaching our youth about agriculture and the opportunities it provides.”

“America’s Farmers Grow Communities” has donated more than $16 million to more than 6,500 nonprofit organizations across the country since 2010.
