LUBBOCK, TX - The Buddy Holly Center invites the community out on October 28 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. to learn more about Dia De Los Muertos.
Dia De Los Muertos is a Mexican holiday to celebrate friends and family members that have died. It is celebrated from October 31 to November 2. The Buddy Holly Center is holding a workshop for people of all ages to engage in fun activities for the entire family.
Activities include creating sugar skulls, macaroni skeletons and personalized candles. Educational Assistant Harrison Bucy said it is important to learn about this holiday because it encompasses one of the many cultures that we have in West Texas.
“It's a shared culture and a shared heritage,” Bucy said. “It is important to learn about this specific holiday because it is so personal. You're remembering the people you loved that have passed away.”
The workshop will be at the Buddy Holly Center on Saturday. It costs $10 to attend and you can sign up for the workshop by calling (806) 775-3562.
