City Council Postpones Citizens Tower Project

Texas Tech Athletics Facilities Projects Looks Promising

LUBBOCK, TX - The City Council Meeting took place on Thursday to discuss multiple agenda items regarding Texas Tech University and the Citizen Tower Project.

Council members determined they will postpone the guaranteed maximum pricing for the citizen tower building.

"We're trying to make sure all the components, everything that goes together to put this project together, is priced right," Steve Massengale, City Council Member for District 4 said.

The Vice Chancellor of Facilities Planning and Construction for Texas Tech University, Michael Molina, gave a presentation on the upcoming works for the university.

The athletic department is looking to expand and develop facilities for their athletes. Molina explaining it's all part of the magical branding process Kirby Hocutt has put in place.

Molina added studies and plans to begin baseball renovations, a basketball training facility and an athletic dining hall are in place.

"Once that happens, we're studying several different fundraising or fiscal or support investment models to make it come to fruition. We haven't made a decision on it at this time, but it is a high priority for athletics, " Molina said.
