Valentine's Day means 15 times the regular business at College Flowers in Lubbock and Kelly West, Director of Special Events, said they are working overtime to get everything ready.

"We equate this to our Super Bowl. This is our event that we've been gearing up for all year, we talk about it all year, we plan for it all year."

West said the store gets filled to the brim with extra supplies.

"We're talking thousands of stems of roses, thousands of stems of hydrangeas, thousands of stems of lilies, tulips. It's kind of one of those exciting days where the cooler is at it's peak, at it's fullest, and at it's prettiest."

Sometimes you know exactly what you want, but West said a little wiggle room can lead to a better bouquet.

"We suggest that you let our designers do what they do best, we put together special based on what is seasonally appropriate, what is value conscious, we try to give you the best bang for your buck...we have them in all different price ranges and you can customize them to an extent but we kind of make them streamlined so it's easy for the customers and then our designers as well."

College Flowers is teaming up with Simply Decadent Bakery where Krista Bailey, owner of Simply Decadent Bakery, said you will have plenty of edible goodies to choose from.

"There they have our macaroons, they have the chocolate, the strawberry and they're doing an assortment of 6. Then they have the chocolate chip cookies, we did a bag of cookies for them , or the chocolate covered strawberries this year."

Valentine's Day is usually about the ladies but Bailey said her chocolate covered strawberries are a great gift for men.

"The go-to is the chocolate covered strawberries. We're doing some that are decorated like footballs, or baseballs, something to kind of customize them."

Whether you get the flowers, chocolates, or both, West said you can trust College Flowers to make you Valentine's Day very special.

"We try really hard to get that, the experience that everybody wants, that surprise of flowers on Valentines Day which you hope are coming, you hope are coming, and when they do come it's great. We don't like to disappoint and not get that experience for someone."

College Flowers is open from 9 am to 5 pm and accepting orders through Valentine's Day.
