The Red Raiders lead-off hitter scored the first run of the season for Texas Tech and now heads into the final week of the season as one of the top run scorers in the nation.
"I always took it as I have no pressure on me," Emanuel said. "No one expects me to come in and do anything. I just try to produce as many hits and get on base as much as possible."
Emanuel's done just that. She leads the team in several statistical categories including batting average, runs scored and stolen bases.
Only three freshmen in the country have a better batting average than Emanuel and her 36 stolen bases are second nationally among freshman.
Emanuel has put up these amazing numbers in her freshman campaign despite battling an ankle injury for several weeks during the season.
"If Sydni's healthy I don't think there's a freshman better than than her," head coach Shanon Hays said. "She's having an All-American year as a freshman."
Emanuel and the Red Raiders close out the regular season at Oklahoma this weekend.
