LUBBOCK, TX - The family of Katrina Castillo spoke out on Friday, as the investigation into her murder continues.
Katrina's aunt Esther Soliz remembers her niece as being loved by so many people.
"She was vivacious and loving and fun and just accepting of everybody," Soliz said. "We can't imagine just the beauty that she's seeing and the peace that she's at...There's nothing, nothing, nothing that can take that away. All the memories and all the love that she shared with us and spread."
The family wanted to thank the community for all their support during this difficult time.
"This is not going to defeat us," Esther said. "This is not going to defeat our family, because we are going to share her story. We are going to keep her alive by honoring her."
They're hosting a candlelight vigil honoring her memory on Friday night at 7 p.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
Katrina was a student at Vogue College of Cosmetology, with a love of makeup and hairstyling.
"She wanted to help you feel beautiful. She wanted to make you feel like the center of attention," Katrina's cousin Mercedes Ybarra said.
The family plans to donate a scholarship to the college in her name. If you'd like to donate, CLICK HERE.
