LUBBOCK,TX- Texas Tech fans can't help but root for their Red Raiders, and that is exactly what they did Friday when hundreds of fans showed up to cheer on the baseball team at an open practice.

It was the first open practice for Tech since making the NCAA Super Regional.

It is the first time in program history they have made it this far and fans could not contain their excitement.

"I was surprised at the end," Amanda Marinez said. "I knew that they would do well in the beginning of the season, but I knew that they would do well at the end, and we pulled it off, and were able to make school history and go into the super regionals for the first time. It is a big accomplishment for our program."

Super fan Eric Smith said the team deserves the chance to win it all.

"I love the way that they work hard, they play hard, they practice like a champion and they play like a champion and there is nothing better than a hard working team," Smith said.

The first game starts Saturday at noon, and Sundays' game will be at 2 pm.
