Twenty-two-year-old Ericka Neiblas is recovering, after she says car ran her over sunday morning in the Depot District.
Ericka doesn't remember much, but her best friend who was with her says it happened around 2:15 am when they were crossing 18th Street and Texas Avenue, leaving club Klusoz.
"I just know I was crossing the street and someone hit me," Ericka says. "I was confused, I didn't process it quickly, I mean I probably asked the same questions four times of waking up her friend."
Her friend tells us Ericka moved with the car until it stopped, and was rushed to UMC with serious injuries. She suffers from a concussion, broken nose and eye socket, fractured ribs and spine, lacerations on her liver and bruises all over her body.
"We always expect somethings gonna happen, I mean we are out in that environment," Ericka says. "So, thank God I'm alive. I mean people get shot and I'm just thankful it wasn't that bad."
But one of the emotional parts for Ericka, is losing her teeth.
"Honestly, I am not worried about all the other fractures. It can heal, it can be fixed," she said. "It's still me. But, the teeth will never be my teeth again.
But Ericka is thankful to be okay, she she can be a mom to her daughter.
"I can remember my family my friends and appreciate whats around me and I'm thankful for that."
