The Girl Scouts have been selling cookies since 1917 to raise funds. Alyssa Kavanaugh has been a Girl Scout for 7 years and she said she remembers her first cookie sale season.

"It was actually really hectic and just a lot of people going everywhere."

Now there are phone applications that make selling and buying cookies stress free.

"There's one called Cookie Finder and it's available on apple and android and you can vote for your favorite cookie, you can find places that are selling cookies."

The Coco App let's Girl Scouts keep track of their sales on their iphone.

"The girls can set goals and use the app to find out how close they are to their goals and figure out how much more they need."

Kavanaugh sold 1,200 cookies last year and said she wants to double her numbers this year.

"My goal is 2,500 (and how close are you right now?) I'm 4%, I've sold at least a hundred cookies."

The girls get to keep the money from cookie sales to be used within the Girl Scouts.

"With the cookie bucks we can get stuff from the gift shop or we can actually use it to pay for resident camp."

Kavanaugh credits the Girl Scouts, and the yearly cookie sales, with giving her life skills for the future.

"It's taught me a lot of stuff, decision making, goal setting, people skills, money management, just all sorts of stuff."

The Lubbock area Girl Scouts will be selling cookies until through March 9th.
