LUBBOCK, TX -- After a successful undercover operation, he Lubbock Police Department Special Operations Unit carried out an illegal gambling bust at the Paradise Game Room.

Special ops crews arrived just around noon to the business at 5015 University.

So far, one arrest has been made. 49 year old Panayiotis Procopi was taken into custody and booked into county jail. Records show he was arrested and convicted of 'keeping a gambling place' in 2012, after Paradise was the target of another sting.

As this is still an ongoing investigation, police expect more arrests are still to come. Officers also seized an unknown amount of money, and motherboards from all of the facility's machines.

Police say these kinds of cases sometimes lead to evidence of other crimes, such as money laundering and organized crime. However, in this case, they say it's too early to tell at this point.

Game rooms such as this aren't necessarily illegal. However, it is illegal in the State of Texas to gamble for any sort of monetary gain. Game rooms like Paradise are legally only allowed to operate for amusement purposes.
