Monday afternoon at the Lubbock High School library Laura Vinson announced her candidacy for the Lubbock-ISD Board of Trustees at-large position.
Vinson serves as senior vice-president of Prosperity Bank.
Vinson is a parent. She served as president and as a board member of the PTA at her children's school.
Monday she explained her goals of making a strong public school system for every child.
Vinson said, “We must focus on starting early to put a child on the path to a good education and persisting through the later years to keep them in the system until they graduate. I will emphasize community partnerships and advocate for early childhood education and the continuation of quality full day pre-k in our schools.”
With a background in business, Vinson focused on her record of fiscal responsibility, “We must have a keen eye on fiscal responsibility - always mindful of the stewardship of our community's tax dollars which are entrusted to the district, and along with them, the expectation of efficiency and results,” she said.
The election is may 10th.
