LUBBOCK, TX -- A house fire in East Lubbock left a family without a place to stay after the fire marshal declared the home a complete loss.

The 3 adults and 3 children living in the home escaped without injury.

When inspecting the home fire marshals found that it was missing any working smoke detectors.

Smoke detectors are not required for private property but the Lubbock Fire Marshals office does suggest getting smoke detectors for your home and changing the batteries at least once a year.
