Over a thousand pumpkins will line the Arboretum walkway for the Pumpkin Trail and Parks & Rec Indoor Recreation Coordinator, Nancy Neill, said they don’t spend a penny.

"We ask the public to donate their carved pumpkins to us and then what we'll do is we'll put them out on either side of the trail and then for four nights we'll light them up each night."

The first Pumpkin Trail five years ago had around 700 hundred pumpkins and Neill said the number gets bigger and bigger each year.

"So the more the community participates the longer the trail becomes."

Parks & Rec makes large displays with a Halloween theme and this year they are celebrating the people that keep us safe, both in fantasy and real life.

"Our theme this year is superheroes and we're not just doing superheroes like batman and spiderman and the avengers, we are also going to be a tribute to our first responders who are our local super heroes."

The path at the Arboretum is stroller and wheelchair friendly so everyone can come enjoy the fall festivities.

"We hope that they bring their kids, their parents, the grandparents because it really is a family event."

The Pumpkin Trail is open 8:00 am-5:00 pm October 18-20.
