As three people arrested amid the investigation of Philip Seymour Hoffman's death were arraigned on drug charges, the New York theater community mourned the actor with a candlelight vigil and a dimming of Broadway's marquee lights.

Lawyers for the three say they had nothing to do with Hoffman's death. A fourth person was also arrested, but wasn't charged Wednesday.

Two law enforcement officials say at least one had the actor's cellphone number. The officials spoke Wednesday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to talk about evidence in an open investigation.

The Oscar-winning actor was found dead Sunday in his Manhattan apartment. The medical examiner's office says more tests are needed to determine how Hoffman died but police believe he may have overdosed.
