Just before 1 am Friday January 10th two cars crashed at the intersection of 34th Street and I-27.

Jonathan Perez was driving south bound on the I-27 access road with Abraham Molina in the passenger seat.

Their car was struck by a vehicle, driven by Fabian Garcia, which police said disregarded a red light.

Garcia and his passenger suffered from minor injuries but Perez was taken to UMC after being trapped in his vehicle.

Molina was later pronounced dead at UMC and his brother, Jose Molina, said he is touched by the kind words from friends and family.

"As many people that have kind of reached out to use over the past 24 hours, you know since we found out about his death, you know it's amazing to see how many lives he touched and how many people he actually knew."

Sergeant Hook, of the Lubbock Police Department, said they are blocking off the intersection Sunday morning at 9 am to recreate the crime scene.

They are hoping to learn the speeds the cars were going and more information to aid their investigation.
