LUBBOCK,TX- Small businesses in Lubbock said they can not wait for the upcoming football season, because football brings customers through their doors.

Bill Hayes is the owner of A-1 Flags in central Lubbock, where he said flags are flying off his shelves.

"It's caught us running out a few times," Hayes said. "So I have to make a mad dash to order some more."

Hayes said his biggest customers are businesses buying Tech flags to show their game day spirit. His other customers are young boys decorating their dorms and tailgaters.

"New coach, new players," Hayes said. "It's just new excitement all over again."

Hayes said he expects to get even more customers once the Red Raiders get into playing their conference games.

Miss Anne opened Mean Woman Grill off the Marsha Sharp, just half a mile away from the Jones, in January. She said she is looking forward to her first football season.

"It's going to be great," Miss Anne said. "I am excited. It's going to be so much work, but it is going to be great. It's going to be all raiders, all raiders. We are thrilled."
