LEVELLAND – South Plains College hosted a ribbon-cutting and open house for the college’s new Cosmetology facility today (March 7) at 206 Clubview Drive.
The 20,000 square feet of space in Gentry Square now houses the new cosmetology facility at a cost of $2.2 million. Presently there are 65 students in the program which now has the capacity to accommodate 100 students.
The full service Cosmetology area houses 118 work stations; three classrooms; 24 shampoo and hair dryer units; six private facial rooms; a student break room; a student locker room; a laundry room complete with two washers and four dryers; an equipment dispensary room which contains hair products and mannequins; a room for manicures; a room for pedicures with 12 stations; and four hand-washing sinks and countertops for instructors to wash off hair color or perm applications in the work station room.
The student stylists provide up to four services each. The services provided include haircuts, permanent waves, hair styling, hair treatments, facials, manicures, pedicures and hair coloring. The SPC Cosmetology Program accepts clients from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (depending on the service) on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays.
