Texas Tech Baseball Receives Seventh Straight National Ranking
The Red Raiders return 20 players from last year's roster.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech received a national ranking for the seventh consecutive week on Monday with a No. 25 ranking by the USA Today Coaches’ Poll and moved up to No. 26 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association top-30 poll.
The Red Raiders (22-9, 4-5 Big 12) went 3-2 last week with a midweek doubleheader sweep over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and taking one-of-three games against 12th-ranked Texas while falling in the finale in 12 innings. Last week Tech became the first Big 12 team to claim 22 victories this season.
Tech dropped one spot in the USA Today Coaches’ poll while earning its fourth straight spot in the top-25 poll. Tech’s highest ranking in the USA Today Coaches’ poll was at No. 23 on Mar. 10.
The Red Raiders are among the nation’s top 30 teams for the seventh straight week according to the NCBWA while moving up one spot from last week to No. 26. Texas Tech has occupied every spot in the poll from No. 24-30 during the regular season in the NCBWA poll.
Tech has been ranked every week of the regular season (Feb. 17-Mar. 31) in the NCBWA poll with its highest ranking at No. 25 on Mar. 10.
Texas Tech will play four games away from home this week starting on Tuesday with a neutral site game against New Mexico (19-9-1) at 6 p.m. in Midland, Texas, at Security Bank Ballpark. The Red Raiders will play outside of the state of Texas for the first time this weekend with a series at No. 20 Oklahoma State, Apr. 4-6, at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
