{Press release from Texas Tech University:}

Texas Tech to Conduct Bird Relocation Program:
WHAT: Bird relocation program
WHEN: At dusk on March 17-19
WHERE: Various campus locations

Texas Tech University Grounds Maintenance will conduct a bird relocation program next week at the following buildings on campus: Sneed Hall, Ag Sciences, Chemistry, Law School, and Flint Avenue Parking Garage.

At dusk March 17-19, a non-lethal propane noise cannon will be fired intermittently in these areas until the birds have dispersed. The cannon is loud, and the university wants to alert nearby residents and businesses in advance.

The purpose of this program is to discourage large populations of birds from roosting over walkways, entryways and other heavily foot-trafficked areas of campus where bird droppings are an issue.

The Texas Tech Police Department, as well as local law enforcement, has been notified.
