Lubbock, Texas -- Texas Tech football held its first weekly press conference on Monday to discuss Saturday's season opener against the University of Central Arkansas.

After 23 preseason workouts, the Red Raiders are ready to take the field against the Bears.

"I know these guys," head coach Kliff Kingsbury said. "They've been going against the defense for what seems against June, really, 7 on 7 and team drills they've been doing on their own.  So they're going to see another colored jersey and I'm sure they'll be ready to get after it."

Sophomore quarterback Davis Webb has been ready.  He started studying film of the FCS opponent a week early.

"Oh, yeah, I've already watched them," Davis said. "I know they're a good team, and they're going to come ready to play because this is a game for them and big game for us.  First game of the season, year two of Coach Kingsbury's team, and I think we have a good chance to be a good team, and it starts with them."

The Red Raiders have won eleven straight season openers.  Texas Tech and Central Arkansas meet at 6 p.m. on Saturday.  The game will be televised by Fox Sports.
