The West Texas Outlaws play their first game of the season Sunday against the Curry County Cats and Lineman, Maurice Taylor, said they are excited to also have the game them "We're PUMPED for our new season."

"Our theme is we're pumped for our new season. We're actually honoring this month as heart month."

Taylor said there will be professionals at the game to educate people about heart health.

"We actually have some guys called the Interim Health Care, they're going to be here giving free blood pressure checks and they're also going to educate people about heart related diseases."

Taylor said many of the team members have a friend or relative dealing with heart disease.

"We have a lot of guys on our team that have family members that have either passed away from heart disease or we have some people now that we know that are dealing through heart diseases and what not."

Some of those people are Michael and Cassie Thomas-Fuller who lost their daughter Kennedy to heart disease at just 22 days old and two-year-old Bodie Gannoway, who was born with a congenital heart defect and has fought his way through 16 surgeries and over 5 months in the hospital.

"He's such an inspiration to us. We met him at the heart walk and that's where he took his first steps and he's such a warrior and he inspires us all."

The Outlaws will be honoring Bodie and the Thomas-Fullers at halftime and Taylor hopes the weather will draw a large crowd.

"A lot of people do not like that cold weather but since it's warm we should have a pretty good crowd on hand."

The game starts at 1:30 pm at Lena Stephens Field at Lubbock Christian.

Tickets are ten dollars online at www.wtxoutlaws.com or 12 dollars at the gate.

The first 100 people the come through the gates will receive a gift from the American Heart Association.
