LUBBOCK, TX - It's the season of surprises, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation always seems to make the lives of others extra special.
Adela had no idea her entire family was waiting to give her the big news that her dreams are coming true.
"My daughter got diagnosed with kidney disease about a year ago. She's been on dialysis for a year," said Sally Garcia, Adela's mom.
Within a week of being on the transplant list, a kidney match was found, and Adela had her surgery. Three months later, she's feeling much better.
"She's been doing really well since her transplant," said Garcia.
Now, she's going to the happiest place on earth. So, why Disney World?
"Because I've never been there," said Adela.
She can't wait to meet one character in particular: Mickey Mouse.
For Adela's mom, having the whole family in Lubbock to celebrate means more than she can put into words.
"We're so blessed. She's going to get her wish," said Garcia.
Her birthday is in February, and for a late birthday present, she'll be spending it in Florida with her parents and brothers during spring break.
