(LUBBOCK, TX) - 12-year-old Isaiah describes open heart surgery with one word.
"Painful," he said.
And he would know.
Isaiah's had three open heart surgeries.
Born with pulmonary stenosis, a valve in his heart was not working right.
So at three months old, he went under the knife for the first time.
Then last year, he had his third.
"It feels like I'm in a whole other world," he said of surgery.
But before his most recent surgery, Isaiah's doctor mentioned the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
He wanted to take a trip, but he couldn't decide between going to New York or California.
California won out.
After a trip to Disneyland and the ocean, the Brisco's remember it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
"It was a blessing, just to have the family together," Betty, Isaiah's mom, said.
