(LUBBOCK, TX) - For many years, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has hosted an annual gala to raise money for the non-profit.
Waltzing for Wishes has a dancing element to it, where local celebrities team up with dance professionals to compete for a prize and ultimately raise money to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
This year, KLLL radio personality, Mudflap is donating his time to the cause.
"I've always been interested in Make-A-Wish and then they called me up and asked me if I'd be interested in doing like a format, you know the "Dancing With The Stars" and I said 'man, absolutely love to help out,'" Mudflap said.
Waltzing for Wishes is in March and Mudflap has been practicing with partner, Adreana Garza for months.
"He's doing pretty good. He catches on pretty quick," Garza said.
"If she's got to beat me on the head, if that's what it takes to get me to learn this, I'll do it," Mudflap added.
Make-A-Wish hopes to raise more than $200,000 at the event.
Mudflap said he hopes the non-profit reaches its goal.
He's also hoping for a flawless performance on his part.
"I come out here at least twice, three times a week and then we take it home. Sometimes we video it and I go over the steps at the house and my family thinks I'm crazy, but it's all good. I want to get it right. I want to do a good job," he said.
If you'd like to attend Waltzing for Wishes, the event is March 8th at the Overton Hotel in Lubbock.
