(LUBBOCK, TX) - Students from one Frenship ISD elementary school skipped class earlier this month, but they didn't get in trouble for it.

They spent an entire morning selling baked goods at Covenant Medical Center.

From muffins to cookies, and even hot breakfast pizza, they had all of their bases covered at a student-run bake sale.

But the whole set up wasn't just for fun.

Every dollar collected was headed to Make-A-Wish.

"We're helping all the kids that don't really get to do everything and they can't do sports because they have to go and see the doctor. They go and do some surgery and we just want to help them make that wish for them," Willow Bend 5th Grader, Victoria Cardenas, said.

The school hopes to raise enough money to grant one wish through this and other fundraisers.

On average, one child's wish costs $8,000 through Make-A-Wish.

"I want to help them have a very good life and have them not go and see the doctor as much as they have to," 4th grader, Reagan Ashley, said.

"It feels good that we're helping other kids do what he (they) wants to do," 4th grader, Marquis Turner, added.
