LUBBOCK, TX - Some school wide assemblies are boring.

This wasn't one of them.

Students at Frenship's Willow Bend Elementary got the chance to watch as their favorite teachers took a pie to the face.

"Mine was a third grader, a little girl. I thought it was going to be good, but no. It went everywhere," kindergarten teacher, Brenda Montoya said. "Anytime we get to interact with the kids the way we do, to make them feel part of the school, it's just enjoyable."

For two weeks, students bought tickets and put them in the jar of the teacher they wanted to see "pie'd" the most.

The money raised from ticket sales is going to Make-A-Wish.

"The Make-A-Wish Foundation is to help raise money for kids who have a problem with their heart or some kind of disease, to help them get a reward," 5th grade student, Mason Threadgill explained.

He, along with other students like Victoria Cardenas, helped organize the event.

"It makes me feel very excited that I'm helping other people," Cardenas said.
