LUBBOCK, TX -- Kyle Wianecki recently graduated with distinguished honors from Anton High School at just 16 years old. He skipped his sophomore year in high school, now he is skipping his summer to get ahead at his new college, Texas Tech University.

Monday was his freshman orientation, and Tuesday was his first day of class.  He plans to major in physics and possibly do a double major with math.

"I want to research something along the lines of  cosmology and studying  either string theory or M theory, and pretty much the how the universe came to be from its origins to where it will go from here on out," said Wianecki.

Wianecki says he plans to stay at Texas Tech for undergrad, he is not sure whether he will try to finish in three or four  years. He does plan on going to grad school, but is not sure where he will go.
