LUBBOCK, TX - Driving through southwest Lubbock, it's hard to ignore the towering poles and wide nets going up off the Marsha Sharp freeway and Milwaukee as constructions crews work on the Hub City's newest entertainment facility.
Owned by Troon Golf, 4ORE aims to bring the worlds of golf and entertainment together for golfer and non-golfers alike. The vision for 4ORE came to fruition through the idea of a Lubbock native who wanted to share the game of golf with everyone.
"I grew up playing the game of golf and loving it, and just an entertainment facility for the whole family is something that we're really proud of," said J.J. Killeen, managing partner of 4ORE Golf. "So, this is something for everybody, not just golfers."
Whether you're a pro on the green, or a pretty OK at putt putt, making sure there was something everyone could enjoy was made top priority.
Guests are encouraged to swing for the seven-acre turf field at their targets through various games and challenges. While not hitting golf shots, guests will be able to enjoy watching from the 60 climate-controlled tee boxes, 175 high-definition flat-screen TVs, a full-service sports bar and grill and an outdoor patio. The facility will also soon begin selling both individual and company style memberships.
General manager, Patrick Wynn, says from the moment they broke ground on 4ORE that the Lubbock community has shown immense support fo the new company.
"It's amazing to be apart of the community here, everyone has been so supportive of what we're trying to do," said Wynn. "Everywhere we look somebody is saying, 'we want to help you get open, we want to make sure you're successful.' It's really something amazing and i haven't seen it anywhere else in the world that I've been."
Wynn says 4ORE is projected to bring 450 job opportunities with its opening and plans to keep all the hires from the Lubbock community, area schools and colleges.
4ORE is expected to open in mid June, but in the meantime Killeen and Wynn say the best way to keep up with the facility's progress is through their social media pages:
