Carpet Tech Heads for Houston to Assist Flood Victims

LUBBOCK, TX - Around 8 a.m. Thursday, a group of Carpet Tech technicians began their journey down to the Houston area to begin assisting Harvey flood victims with the process of being able to move back into their homes.

With six trucks and two semis, the crew's first stop will be in Katy, where they will begin helping families with flooded homes by drying them out and making them safe again.

Although the company would not typically respond to or serve that region, owner Chet Pharies said that he knew they had to help their fellow Texans.

"That's what we do, we love to help, we help in all of our communities that we're in, and Texas needs us, so that's what we're going to do," explained Pharies. "We're just going to be drying out structures and getting them safe for rebuilding so people can get their lives back to normal."

Pharies and his crew want to assure the Lubbock community that they are not being left empty-handed, and that there are plenty of employees staying behind to serve the local and surrounding areas. However, Pharies said the team that is responding will be down there however long it takes until they are no longer needed.

'It could be three weeks, could be a year. Just however long people still need our assistance," Pharies said. The mission involves technicians from not only the Lubbock area, but as well as from Clovis, Collin County, the Permian Basin and Amarillo.

If you have family or loved ones who live in the Houston area who may need help from Carpet Tech technicians, they are encouraged to contact them at 888-343-9650.

In terms of cost of services provided, Carpet Tech officials stated the following:

"Carpet Tech will not turn down anyone in need of their services regardless of their insurance status. They will be treating each situation on a case by case basis given the circumstance."
