The Red Cross is now assisting a victim in East Lubbock after her home went up in flames early Thursday morning.
Lubbock firefighters spent the morning on the scene of the house fire in the 2400 block of East 28th Street.
They arrived on scene around 4:15 a.m. and found flames coming from the home.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
The home owner was across the street visiting a neighbor.
When she saw her house on fire, she passed out.
She was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.
The fire department was able to rescue two dogs from the home.
Firefighters believe the fire started in kitchen area.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The house was left severely damaged and the Red Cross was called in to assist the victim.
