LUBBOCK, TX - A local family was startled when wanted, Thomas Lee Ponce, tried to break into their backyard moments before being captured by the police.
"We just heard the whole gate rattle and then heard somebody tackle him and yell at him to 'get on the ground,'" Lauren Ruiz, the homeowner said.
Thomas Ponce, who was wanted for aggravated sexual assault, is now in custody.
LPD received a tip that Ponce had been spotted around 1st Street and University. Officers nearby began to search the area and located Ponce. Ponce ran from officers and after a brief foot chase, Ponce was taken into custody near the 2600 block of 1st Street.
