LUBBOCK, TX-- United Blood Services is asking for donations as they continue to be on an urgent appeal for all negative and O+ blood types.

"We should be going into this bank up, so we have some extra and instead, we're going into this in an urgent appeal," said Les Long from United Blood Services. "We're not being able to fill all the hospital orders."

Shelves are empty at the blood bank and they are asking citizens to be Labor Day Heroes. Donations made from now until Saturday will be registered to win prizes such as a 40 inch RCA flat screen TV.

The blood bank will be closed on Labor day, but will reopen on Tuesday from 12 to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
