LUBBOCK,TX-- Lubbock Police hosted their 14th annual police reunion, where former officers attended. Among attendees was former Officer Robert Weed, LPD's first ever K-9 officer.

"I think they should've had the K-9's years before," said Weed. "I don't think a Police department should not have K-9's."

Weed brought a scrapbook to the reunion that his wife made him when he served on the force in the 1960's.

"I loved being a police officer," said Weed. "Handling the dogs was the best police work I ever did."

His K-9 Rex was trained by the police officers during the academy in 1961.

"Your dog is only as good as his handler," said Weed.
