LUBBOCK, TX -- Police arrested Amadeo Cruz Torres, 23, of Lubbock Wednesday afternoon on a charge of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.

Torres was arrested in a bookstore at the South Plains Mall a few minutes after noon.

According to an arrest warrant, “Last week she [the victim] was contacted via Facebok and was encouraged to send nude photographs of herself to a person who represented herself as a modeling recruiter.”

The modeling recruiter told the girl she would need to meet with a modeling “inspector” at the South Plains Mall. The arrest warrant said the modeling inspector matched the description of Torres and the girl met with him. The arrest warrant said Torres knew he contacted a 15-year-old girl on Facebook.

Torres convinced her to go into a restroom where he not only took pictures of her naked, but, according to the warrant, he also touched her inappropriately. The warrant said he penetrated her with his finger.

The warrant said Torres also contacted one of the victim’s friends – again claiming it would be necessary to meet a modeling inspector at the mall. But this time police were ready. Police used the friend’s cell phone to confirm a time to meet.

Instead of finding the victim’s friend, Torres found police.

“Torres was in possession of a camera consistent with a description given by Jane Doe,” the warrant said.

The warrant also said the victim was shown a series of jail booking photos called a “photospread lineup.”

“Jane Doe picked out Amadeo Cruz Torres as the person who sexually assaulted her.”

Local Model Agencies are warning parents to take precaution when modeling offers are presented to their children.
