LUBBOCK, TX - Every Tuesday evening thousands of Texas Tech students pile into the Bank City Colesium to attend a raider church service, but pastor Parker Bollinger said this week's service is going to be dedicated to praying for the fallen Texas Tech officer, Floyd East Jr. as well as other TTU officers.
"Coming together tonight to be in a safe place tonight, being able to pray for these things, and pray for each other, its a powerful way to break the chain of fear," Bollinger said.
They've created t-shirts with the hashtag #prayfortech and said the proceeds will go toward officer East's family.
"We want to raise money and help them tonight, that is our main focus," Bollinger said.
Over on the Texas Tech campus, during band practice the song "nearer my God to thee" was dedicated to the fallen officer. Assistant Director, Eric Allen said they plan to send a recording to his family for them to feel support during this tough time.
