LUBBOCK, TX--- The next several days are expected to come with freezing temperatures.
The Salvation Army of Lubbock is prepped and ready to take on anyone needing to get out of the cold.

"What we're doing is we're prearing our warming station for people to come in out of the cold," says Dianne Taylor, with the Salvation Army.

With temperatures expected to get into the teens, she says warm food and blankets are ready to go.

"With the constant cold they're coming in more and more and so we're making more room."

All are encouraged to come here to the Salvation Army if they need assistance, emergency cots are ready.
However the Survive the Night disaster vehicle will be out on patrol.

"When it hits 30 degrees at 6 o'clock we'll get a team in and and take our disaster unit out with 60 meals and blanks"

Dave Freriks, director of Survive the Night says the last time he went out 43 people were found the first night and 37 the next, some in new parts of town, and a growing number of women.

"Which to me is-- I've never-- I've never seen that many women out on the street."

A story Dianne says she's seen first hand.

"The last time i was on the catine we encountered a family that was sleeping in their van they actually followed the cantine to see if they could get coats for the little guys because they were just in a fleece. And it was a single mom with three kids she had a 7 month old baby. We invited them back to the shelter she came and stayed with us for a while, gathered up some money adn went back to Houston."

She also says, if you see someone out on the streets when the temperature drops-- encourage them or if you can help them get to the Salvation Army.
They won't turn anyone away that comes.

There are a few things the salvation army is in need of. One being men's socks, as well as blankets, pillows and hygiene intems.
If you can donate you're asked to bring them to 1614 avenue j to help out.
