LUBBOCK, TX -- While thankful for the recent rains, some south Lubbock businesses have had to change their business plans because of all the water.
Just off of Indiana Avenue, just north of 114th Street, the South Gate Golf Course is currently closed. Owner Jack North said they have too much water on the course and it's not playable.
North said he monitored the rain all weekend, and they were able to stay open, at least partially, all weekend and even into Monday. By Monday afternoon, that changed.
North said the course just had too much water on it, and they couldn't even keep just 9 holes open.
Just south of 114th and Indiana is The Range driving range. They too have plenty of water on their driving range, but have been able to stay open.
"It just restricts on what players, what they can hit out here," Owner Clay Carnes said. "We don't allow any drivers or three woods or anything really longer than a 7 iron, for right now until it dries up, we don't want to lose our golf balls."
Carnes and North both agreed that while the water has created changes to their businesses, they're still happy that Lubbock got the rain this past weekend.
