LUBBOCK, TX-- Saturday night's storm damage affected the homes of families in Southwest Lubbock County. Homeowners outside of Wolfforth had their windows blown out and the clean-up is just beginning.
The Bramlett family had to seek shelter in their bathroom this weekend during the worst of the wind and hail. Melissa Bramlett said the hail was golf and baseball size.
"We came home, we were sitting on the couch watching the Tech game, and we started hearing a loud howling noise and then the outside window panes busted," said Bramlett. "The couch was rocking back and forth, and the inside windows started busting out one at a time... as the hail hit them."
Bramlett, a mother of three said it was very scary.
American Red Cross South Plains Regional Chapter is offering aid to the affected families and providing them hotels for the next three days.
The Red Cross provided tips in case your home has incurred any storm damage.
Additional pointers include first making sure power is off or that there is a safe power connection. Next, tarp everything of value in order to keep it safe from water exposure.
If windows have incurred damage make sure to cover all windows with broken glass in order to protect the home from more storms and debris.
If damage assistance is needed from the American Red Cross contact (866) 505 4801.
