LUBBOCK, TX -- The Texas Department of Transportation is asking for public input about a proposed outer route.

This is during phase two of the process. Phase one was finished in 2010, where they did a study to decide it was possible to have a roadway connecting Highway 84 near Shallowater with Highway 84 near Slaton. The road would go past Wolfforth.

There are currently two corridors that have been proposed, and this next phase will determine where exactly in those areas the road can go.

"Many times, the public brings a fresh perspective to what we're trying to accomplish, what transportation goals we're trying to meet. They may inform us of some information, some historical information, that we didn't know fell along the route," Dianah Ascencio with TxDOT said.

She adds this is still very early planning for this roadway, and "anything can happen between now and 2030, when we're projected to need this particular roadway."

More information on the project can be found here.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 4th, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lubbock-Cooper Performing Arts Center. TxDOT will have a presentation around 6 and also have staff on hand to answer any questions.
