LUBBOCK, TX - Former Abernathy Police Chief Cameron Bowman was terminated from his position after documents stated he made numerous unauthorized purchases on a city credit card. Public records obtained by EverythingLubbock.com revealed the exact receipts that put his career on the line.
The documents include 15 receipts from various businesses authorized by Bowman.
In total, more than $750 were spent. The more expensive charges include three tickets to a Houston Astros game with parking passes, items from an auto parts store, and a round of golf at a Huntsville golf club.
There is no confirmation if any of the charges included in this document were authorized.
Abernathy City Manager told EverythingLubbock.com that they only dealt with the "employment issue" in this case. Bowman was suspended without pay in August and terminated shortly after.
Hale County District Attorney and Texas Rangers were asked to investigate criminal charges. They have not responded if this investigation is complete.
