LUBBOCK, TX - On Wednesday, March 14, Workforce Solutions of the South Plains is offering a Youth Job Fair tailored for young adults ages 14-24 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.
The fair will kick off with a ribbon cutting at 9:45 a.m., and will run through 2 p.m. In that time frame, high school and college students will have an opportunity to meet with more than 50 employers one-on-one.
Danny Soliz, director of Business Development at Work Force Solutions, advised young adults to take advantage of the opportunity.
"It's Spring Break and we know that, but we're encouraging all the kids that are not out of town to come out especially if they're working during the summer, or possibly secure that job now while they're still in school."
Soliz added that many of the employers realize that several students may not have their own car or a consistent schedule due to classes, which is why many of them are willing to be flexible and work with those applicants to find a work schedule that is best suited for them.
"We're there to help everyone, if babies could go to work, we would be helping those babies find a job, okay? So we don't exclude anybody, we treat everybody the same. If they need help, they wouldn't be looking for help if they didn't need help. So we're there to help them," Soliz said.
There is not a list of employers available to preview ahead of the fair; Soliz advised that those attending Wednesday's fair:
- Come dressed professionally (no jeans)
- Have a resume/copies of your resume handy to present to employers
