41st Annual School of Banking at Texas Tech University

LUBBOCK, TX (PRESS RELEASE) -- Visit Lubbock is excited to host the 41st Annual School of Banking, “Educating Tomorrow’s Banking Leaders Today,” at Texas Tech University. The event will begin on Sunday, August 17 at 7 p.m. with opening remarks and registration. The school will continue August 18-22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Rawls College of Business.
The School of Banking is designed to provide future leaders in the financial service industry with the skills, tools and perspective to help their banks prosper and their careers flourish. Students are required to complete two sessions to obtain certification from the School of Banking. Around 90 students will be in attendance from Texas and Oklahoma.
“Qualified faculty and prepared curriculum enable the students to grasp the big picture of today’s financial services industry and give them a head start at a successful banking career,” Terri Ward, event coordinator for the 2014 School of Banking, said.
The first honored speaker is Gayle Earls, a former president and CEO of TIB – The Independent BankersBank and current Chairman of the Board of AccessBank Texas. Mr. Earls will kick off the event with a keynote address on the evening of Sunday, Aug. 17. Mr. Earls was the first elected Chairman of the School’s Advisory Board in 1976 and is a Distinguished Graduate of the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University.
On Thursday, Aug. 21, Texas Tech University Chancellor Emeritus Kent Hance will deliver the second keynote address during that evening’s dinner. Mr. Hance is also a Distinguished Graduate of the Rawls College of Business, and he will be addressing the group on “Texas Tech University and Banking.”
Randall S. James, former Banking Commissioner for the State of Texas, is the Chairman of the Bank School’s Advisory Board.
