LUBBOCK, TX -- A warning was issued last week concerning the promise of money in exchange for advertising a particular brand of beer. The local Better Business Bureau said the offer comes from “an email scam.”

“A consumer received an email from an alleged Hiring Manager at Bud Light Breweries stating that they had been approved of the application for the Bud Light Auto Wrap Concept,” the BBB said.

BBB said, “The email informed the consumer that the car wrap would stay on their car for three months in exchange for $400 per week in compensation.”

The consumer was told not to put up any personal money; however, there was a catch. The consumer was instructed to hand over personal information which creates a risk of identity theft.

BBB said to visit to check out a company’s compliance with BBB standards and remember the following advice:

  • Beware of deals that sound too good to be true
  • If someone urges you to send or wire money, it’s probably a scam
  • Don’t respond to any messages that ask for your personal or financial information
  • Research the company
