Updated, Suspect in Custody: Vehicle Chase with Shots Fired Ends in NE Lubbock County

LUBBOCK, TX - Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in a vehicle chase with shots fired in Southeast Hale County and Northeast Lubbock County.  Two suspects were eventually taken into custody. 

The Texas Department of Public Safety said at about 10:46 a.m. Thursday, Hale County Deputies were pursuing a pickup truck southbound on Farm to Market Road 789.  The vehicle chase led officers to County Road 3900 and County Road 6300 in Lubbock County.

DPS did not know why Hale County initiated the chase.  DPS said during the chase someone in the truck fired shots at deputies.

The vehicle chase ended at about 11:15 a.m. with a woman being arrested and a man running off.  SWAT teams from Plainview Police and the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office were then in a standoff situation with the male suspect.  He was said to be hiding among farm equipment near a cotton field.  

At about 1:15 pm, DPS said the male suspect was taken into custody. DPS did not confirm if he was injured by EMS took him from the scene to a local hospital. 

A law enforcement drone was observed on scene along with the DPS helicopter.
