Celebrate "16th of Broadway" Sunday Evening in Mackenzie Park

Lubbock will finally get a Fourth of July concert and fireworks show, even if it’s a couple of weeks past Independence Day. The celebration will take place on July 16 at 7 p.m. inside Mackenzie Park.

After the severe weather destroyed the original fireworks display, organizers from the Broadway Festivals refused to let that stop them from putting on unforgettable show.

The largest free festival in Texas will pick up right where they left off on July 16 with the Covenant Health and First Bank and Trust Star Spangled Concert at 7 p.m. The Reagor Dykes Mitsubishi Fireworks Extravaganza will follow the concert with recorded music that can be heard on 97.3 The Eagle.

This concert is a free event with free parking across the street from Mackenzie Park. Broadway Festivals President, Don Caldwell, said he was disappointed that the weather cut the celebration short, but he is excited to put on another show for the folks of Lubbock. He said this show will be bigger and better.

“The fireworks show will be incredibly wonderful. It will be very moving with the music and dialogue put together, “ Caldwell said. “It is very patriotic, and I think everyone will enjoy it.”

The folks from Broadway Festivals have even extended the deadline to enter into a raffle to win a personally autographed guitar by none other than Garth Brooks himself. Find more information about the Fourth on the Sixteenth Celebration at www.broadwayfestivals.com
