LUBBOCK, TX -- On Thursday the Lubbock City Council will be asked to approve $167,111 for new playground equipment at Hoel Park, 9002 Chicago Avenue.  The new playground will be handicap accessible, and the city says similar playgrounds have been installed in 17 other Lubbock parks.

The council will also be asked to approve $229,000 for a new walking track at Hoel Park.  Public records say the project includes the removal of the old picnic shelters and the removal of non-handicap-accessible curbs.  The new walking track will include drainage, ADA parking spaces and ADA ramps.
