Communities in Schools of the South Plains to Hold 6th Annual Gala on Thursday, February 1

LUBBOCK, TX (NEWS RELEASE) - The following is a news release from Communities in Schools of the South Plains:

Communities in Schools of the South Plains is pleased to invite you to the 6th Annual Communities In Schools Gala, to be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at the Overton Hotel (2320 Mac Davis Lane). Please arrive by 6:00 pm to enjoy cocktails and bid on many exciting silent auction items. The Gala will begin promptly at 6:45 p.m. with a plated dinner served at 7:00 p.m. This year's theme is "Donate to Dreams", featuring Communities in Schools' students telling their story through projects, testimonies, and performances. A live auction will follow the performances.
 
The mission of Communities in Schools of the South Plains is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. For 18 years, the organization has fulfilled this mission by implementing a holistic model that includes academic tutoring, social enrichment, and intervention services that reach far beyond the classroom. To date, more than 27,000 at-risk students have received life-altering services in the Lubbock area, the greater Lubbock area, and throughout the South Plains. The purpose of the Gala is to highlight the impact of Communities In Schools' dropout prevention program on regional school districts and raise the funds necessary for Communities In Schools to continue its work bridging the achievement gap between families and schools.
